Funeral for Ida “Big Granny” Nicholson, 98, of Hartselle was Tuesday, November 17, at 7 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Wendell Callahan officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

NASA says its Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission satellite measured last week's heavy rainfall that drenched the U.S. east coast. Space agency meteorologists said the precipitation was caused by Tropical Storm Ida, which moved ashore early Nov. 10 and then quickly weakened to a tropical depression.
