It's often not the weather associated with late November; temperatures in the 40's and 50's. Yet, it's that very same mild season that is causing quite a few delays for area ski resorts.

Early Sunday morning three inches of new powder hit the Bogus Basin ski area bringing the total snow base to 10 inches. The ski recreation area hopes to open by Thanksgiving but the first day of the season is dependent on the weather.

It's not every day that a skier has a chance to ride with a pro, such as 1998 Olympic gold-medal winner Jonny Moseley. This season, Tahoe-area resorts are doing everything they can to attract riders.

There was a combination of snow and sun in the Sierra this weekend for the opening of several area ski resorts. Overnight Friday and early Saturday morning, around a foot of snow had collected at many of them, just in time for the season openers. Heavenly Ski Resort opened Friday. Squaw Valley and Northstar opened Saturday.
